How to Choose a Batting Cage Net Supplier: A Bulk Buyer's Checklist
Oct 12, 2026 · 5 min read
A batting cage net looks simple — netting plus a frame — but bulk orders fail on details: netting that tears in one season, frames that rust, cartons that arrive crushed. This checklist is what experienced importers verify before wiring a deposit.
1. Verify the netting spec in writing
For cage nets, 36-ply knotted PE netting is the workhorse; 7-ply polyester is common for portable practice nets. Ask for the ply, mesh size (1.75" is standard for baseball/softball) and whether the netting is UV-treated. A supplier who answers these in one message has a real production line; one who avoids specifics is usually a reseller.
2. Ask who makes the frame
Frames fail before nets do. Ask whether the supplier produces iron tube in-house — tube production, cutting, punching, bending, welding and powder coating under one roof means consistent wall thickness and coating quality, and a supplier who controls the frame controls your lead time.
3. MOQ and sampling policy
- Is there a low-MOQ trial order (100–300 sets) so you can test your market?
- How fast is a sample — one week or one month?
- Is the sample fee credited against the bulk order?
4. Customization scope
Confirm exactly what can be customized: size, net color, fabric, frame color, carry bag, printed logo and retail packaging. "We support OEM" means different things at different factories — get the list in writing, with any setup fees.
5. Lead time and peak season honesty
Spring is peak season for baseball equipment in the US. Ask for lead times in both peak and off-peak months, and place spring orders before Chinese New Year. A supplier who quotes a suspiciously short peak-season lead time is telling you what you want to hear.
6. QC and after-sales
Pre-production samples, in-line inspection photos and a final inspection report before shipment should be standard. Ask what happens if 3% of frames arrive bent — the answer tells you whether you have a partner or just a vendor.
